Use Operations > Inventory > Aging to find stock that has been sitting too long: before a clearance or markdown review, before a write-down decision, or when cash is tied up in slow inventory. The report is read-only.

Before You Start

  • Permission: you need the reports view permission to open the screen and run the report.
  • Location filter: the Location list appears only when your company has more than one location, and it needs settings view access to load. Without that access the report still runs for all locations.
  • How age is measured: each FIFO cost layer is aged from the day it was received. A product received on three different days has three layers, and each lands in its own bucket.

Run the Report

  1. Open Operations > Inventory > Aging. The report runs for today as soon as the page opens.
  2. Choose the As of date if you want to age stock to an earlier day. Future dates are not allowed.
  3. If you have more than one location, choose one in Location, or leave All locations.
  4. Select Run Report. The button reads Running… while the report loads.
  5. Select Today to return to today’s aging snapshot. It is disabled while the date is already today.
An earlier As of date is not a full historical snapshot. It shows the stock you hold today from layers received on or before that date, aged to that date. For the value of inventory on a past date, use Inventory Valuation, which rewinds each layer.

Read the Results

Bucket cards: one card per age bucket, 0-30, 31-60, 61-90, 91-180 and 180+ days, each with its value and share of the total. The 180+ days card is highlighted in red. Grand total inventory value: the value of every layer in the report. Its note reads Ties to Inventory Valuation as of (date): for today, the total matches the live total on the Valuation screen. Common Scenarios

  • Clearance review: run for today and focus on the 91-180 and 180+ days buckets.
  • Write-down decision: compare the old buckets with Dead Stock to see whether old stock is also not moving.
  • One warehouse: choose the location to see only the stock aging there.

What This Report Does Not Change

Running the report is read-only. It posts nothing to the ledger, moves no stock, and sends no notifications.

Inventory Valuation

Operations > Inventory > Valuation: the total this report ties to, today or on a past date.

Dead Stock

Operations > Inventory > Dead Stock: on-hand products with no recent movement.

ABC Analysis

Operations > Inventory > ABC Analysis: classify products by consumption value.

Inventory Adjustments

Operations > Inventory > Adjustments: write down or remove stock you decide to clear.
