Presence shows only people in your own company
You see teammates who are signed in to the same company as you. Switching to another company shows that company’s teammates only.
Where Presence Appears
The Presence Chip
When a teammate opens the same page as you, a presence chip appears. When you are alone on the page, there is no chip and nothing changes.- In the top bar: the chip is a teammate’s avatar beside the other top bar icons. When several teammates are on your page, a count badge on the avatar says how many (up to 9+).
- Near the page title: on screens 1024 pixels wide and up, the account, product, purchase order, return, bill of materials and work order pages show the chip beside the title instead of in the top bar. It shows up to three avatars and a count, such as 4 here.
See Who Is On This Page
- Click the presence chip.
- The On this page panel opens with the number of people here and one row per teammate.
- Read each row for the person’s place on the page in words, such as on Line Items or on the Customer PO field.
- Click a teammate’s name to go to what they are looking at. Arcus scrolls your page to their section or field.
- following you: this teammate is following you.
- Open in another tab, no spot on this page to go to: the teammate has this page open in a tab they are not looking at, so their name cannot be clicked.
Follow a Teammate
Follow opens the pages your teammate opens, in your own browser, with your own permissions. Nothing is shared from their screen, and they see following you beside your name.- Click the presence chip, or open the People section of the Messages dock.
- Click Follow beside the teammate.
- A bar appears at the bottom of the screen with the teammate’s avatar and where they are, such as Following Name, on Line Items.
- As the teammate moves to another page or section, Arcus opens the same page for you and scrolls to the same place.
- Click Stop on the bar to end the follow.
When Follow Waits
Follow never guesses. When Arcus cannot take you where your teammate is, you stay where you are and the bar says why:
When the teammate leaves Arcus or switches company, the bar says left, ending the follow or switched to another company, ending the follow, and the follow ends.
Pointers On The Page
On screens 820 pixels wide and up, each teammate on your page shows as a small avatar on the section, line or field they are looking at.- When the teammate’s spot is above or below what you can see, their avatar waits at the top or bottom edge of the page with an arrow. Click it to scroll there.
- The teammate you follow also has a name tag and a soft ring around their section.
- When a teammate is typing in a field, that field gets a thin border in their color.
Hide Teammates’ Pointers
- Click the presence chip.
- Turn on Hide teammates’ pointers at the bottom of the On this page panel.
A Teammate In A Module You Cannot View
When a teammate is in a module your role cannot view, Arcus names only the module, with a lock, such as In Accounting, which you cannot view. The page or record they have open is never shown to you. Follow is turned off for that teammate with the reason: they are in a module you cannot view, so you cannot follow them there.See Who Is Online In The Messages Dock
- Click the Messages icon in the top bar, or press Cmd+Shift+M (Ctrl+Shift+M on Windows).
- Open the People section of the inbox.
- Each row shows a teammate who is online, where they are, and Follow. A teammate looking at another tab shows in another tab.
- Click a teammate’s name to open the page they are on. The dock closes.
The Team Strip On Home
The Team strip sits under the page title on Home (Home > Overview > Dashboard), above the summary tiles.- The heading shows how many teammates are online, not counting you.
- Each teammate who is online has a tile with their avatar, their name, whether they are looking at Arcus or another tab, and how long ago they were active.
- The tile’s place chip names the document or page they have open. Click it to open the same document.
- Click Last 10 minutes on a tile to see where that teammate has been in the last ten minutes.
- Click See everyone to open the Messages dock, where every online teammate is listed with search. When more teammates are online than fit, an extra tile counts them and opens Messages too.
Choose Which Roles Can Follow Teammates
Following a teammate needs the Follow teammates permission, in the Messaging group of a role.- Open Settings > Team & Roles > Roles & Permissions.
- Open the role.
- Turn Follow teammates on or off in the Messaging group.
- Save the role.
Common Scenarios
- I do not see the presence chip: no one else is on your page. The chip appears only while a teammate has the same page open.
- I see the chip but no pointers: your screen is narrower than 820 pixels, Hide teammates’ pointers is on, or the teammate has the page open in another tab.
- Follow is turned off: your role does not include Follow teammates, or the teammate is in a module you cannot view. Hover or focus the button to read the reason.
- The follow stopped by itself: you scrolled or opened a page yourself, you switched company, or the teammate left.
- The bar says waiting: the teammate is somewhere Arcus cannot take you yet. The table under When Follow Waits lists each reason.
- Could not load who is online: the People section or the Team strip could not read presence. Use Try again.
