# Branding
> Use Branding to set the brand color Arcus uses as the accent on your PDFs and shared customer links, and to preview the icon and logo uploaded on Business Profile.
Branding sets the one brand color Arcus uses to present your company to customers. Use it when you set up a new entity or refresh your brand, and review a sample document afterward.
## Before You Start
* You need the **settings.view** permission to open the page.
* You need **settings.edit** to save. The **Save** button is shown to every role that can open the page, but the server refuses the save for a role without **settings.edit**, and the page shows a "Failed to save" message.
* The icon and logo are uploaded on [Business Profile](/support/settings/business-profile), not here.
## Open Branding
1. In the deck, open **Settings**.
2. Under **Company**, choose **Branding**.
The breadcrumb reads **Settings > Company > Branding**.
## Set The Brand Color
1. Pick a color with the color swatch, or type a six-digit hex value such as `#1F4E79` in the field beside it.
2. Check the **Preview**: a filled **Primary Button** and an **Outline Button** redraw in the color as you change it.
3. Click **Save**.
Arcus confirms with "Saved". An entity that has never saved a color starts from the Arcus default blue.
Use a full six-digit hex value. Documents use the color only when it is a six-digit hex value; anything else falls back to the default accent.
## Brand Preview
When an icon or logo has been uploaded on Business Profile, **Brand Preview** shows them side by side so you can check how they look together with the color. When neither is set, the preview is hidden. To add or replace either image, go to **Settings > Company > Business Profile**.
## What Changes Elsewhere
* **PDF documents**: the brand color is the accent on the PDFs Arcus generates, such as quotes, orders, invoices, returns, refund receipts, and credit memos.
* **Shared customer links**: pages a customer opens from a shared quote or invoice link use your brand color and logo.
* **Your own records do not change**: saving a new color does not alter any order, invoice, or accounting record. Documents you generate after the save carry the new color.
* **Other open sessions**: when another admin saves a new color, your page refreshes to show it.
## Common Scenarios
### The PDF still shows the old color
Generate the document again after saving. A PDF that was already downloaded or emailed keeps the color it was created with.
### The save fails
"Failed to save" followed by a reason means the change did not apply. The most common reason is a role without **settings.edit**. Ask an owner or admin to make the change or to grant the permission.
